Synopsis (Goodreads):
She was his obsession.Thoughts on The Nightmare: Diving back into the world of the Mist and HOO-BOY Zain is intense, isn't he? A nightmare who's now aware, Zain is more than a little feral and was created to punish. Specifically, he was created to punish Naima and she has to get it through his head that what she wanted as a child isn't necessarily what she needs now. Even once he understands that, he was created to be a predator and hunting is something he's good at.
For years, Zain has stalked Naima until she slipped through his fingers. He longs for the delectable taste of her terror and the divine sound of her screams. She occupies his every thought, and he aches for her. Eager to reclaim the only female that can ever complete him, Zain carefully plans his passage into the Mortal Plane. However, when next the Mist rises, instead of hiding from her Nightmare, Naima makes him the most improbable proposition. Is his woman truly surrendering herself to him, or is this a trap to eliminate him for good?
He was her darkest desire.
For a long time, Naima feared the Mist that engulfs the world for three days every month, and especially the monsters that dwell within it. After facing her own demons, she becomes a psychotherapist to help others deal with trauma. When given the opportunity to join the governmental agency that deals with the Mist, she jumps at the chance. Except, she never expected it would mean facing her greatest Nightmare. He’s a bloodthirsty psychopath, with no sense of compassion or empathy. So, why can’t she resist him? Why does he make her crave things she shouldn’t?
Which actually works out nicely once all is said and done because sometimes it takes a killer to hunt a killer.
On Naima's end, she has to come to terms with more than a few things. What the creatures in the mist are and where they came from AND how she and Zain could potentially help make the world a safer place. Plus, she's wildly drawn to her nightmare and has to work her head around the idea of having a relationship with a being who isn't human.
A nightmare of epic proportions, a slightly feral nightmare who has to figure out how to work as part of a team, an unexpected mole, and more than a few steamy encounters between two people who burn for one another. *thumbs up*
