Synopsis (Goodreads):
In the midst of ‘sort of’ planning a wedding and helping Nellie Smith, Port Danby’s mayor, figure out what is wrong with Marty Tate, the town’s beloved lighthouse keeper, Lacey gets pulled into her favorite pastime—solving a murder. While two neighbors engage in a well-publicized feud about a new oversized barn, one of them winds up dead. Was it the enraged neighbor? Lacey soon discovers the victim has more than one enemy and there are plenty of motives to go around.Thoughts on Daisies and Destruction: The weather's starting to cool down in Port Danby and there might be a tiny murder in town. Little one. Barely noticeable. With Briggs being the only detective in the area, he's stretched pretty thin (as usual) and Lacey steps in to lend her amateur sleuthing to his investigation. Which, honestly, Briggs doesn't mind AT ALL.
On top of the unexpected death, Lacey is trying to plan a low-key wedding (one where everyone seems to want her and Briggs to go all out instead of the quiet affair they'd prefer) and there are some issues with Marty she's trying to figure out. (On the up side, that particular issue ends up having a positive ending. I was a little worried for a while and am VERY glad with how things turned out.)
A gathering with the ladies, a very unlikeable victim, a little drama, and an understanding Briggs. Well, he was mostly understanding. He only had to chastise Lacey once for putting herself in a potentially dangerous situation. *thumbs up*
