Synopsis (Goodreads):
After Lacey Pinkerton solved the hundred-year-old mystery of the Hawksworth family murders, Port Danby dropped into a season of chaos. Mayor Price resigned from office, and the town grew divided with some standing behind Harlan Price, and the Price family legacy, and others, including Lacey, deciding that Bertram Hawksworth needed total exoneration and a loftier place in Danby history.Thoughts on Shamrocks and Shenanigans: The infamous 100 year old Port Danby murder might have been solved, but that doesn't mean things have slowed down in town. Mayor Price's resignation is only the start of things. The mayor's office needs a new person in charge and Lacey's seeing a big divide between those who believe the newly uncovered truth about the Hawksworth murders and those who are stuck on believing the lies.
With a vacancy in the mayor's office, Nellie Smith, Bertram's great-grandniece decides to run, and Lacey is happy to join the campaign. When a man is murdered on Nellie's driveway, all evidence points to the candidate. Lacey is in a race against time to solve the murder and save the campaign. But the investigation takes a dangerous turn when Lacey becomes the killer's next target.
On the surprising end of things, the now ex-Mayor Price isn't as awful as Lacey thought. On the NOT surprising end of things, Lacey's in the middle of another murder investigation. A current one. A murder where she discovered the body. Again, not surprising.
She's also dealing with Lola's wedding plans, campaigning for the person she hopes will be the next mayor, and dealing with someone out to get her. Which is weird because she never EVER sticks her nose (literally) into anyone else's business. Unless, you know, their business is MURDER! Then she's all up in that.
