Synopsis (Goodreads):
He was her perfect match.Thoughts on I Married a Dryad: The PMA is at it again. Or, more accurately, Kayog is doing his thing and matching two people who are very right for one another. Since the Edocit people aren't an emerging civilization (or however you want to put it) they're not technically on the PMA's list for matches, but Kayog knows what he knows and soon Maeve is meeting Helio and things are moving in the right direction.
Fed up with the deadbeats and jerks infesting the standard dating pool, Maeve reaches out to the Prime Mating Agency, hoping to improve her luck. Her fear of ending up with some weird primitive alien is immediately alleviated when she’s paired with a stunning Edocit. Smart, funny, sweet, and as hellbent in protecting the weak and the oppressed as she is, Helio exceeds everything she ever dreamed of. If only she didn’t have to keep so many secrets from him.
Helio hadn’t been actively looking for a mate, least of all an off-worlder. But the moment he lays eyes on Maeve, he’s smitten… but also intimidated. Aside from the cultural shock their pairing is bound to give her, he’s a mere bounty hunter, while she’s a brilliant, high-ranking officer of the Enforcers, the elite intergalactic peacekeeping forces. Despite his insecurities, they’re off to a great start… until tragedy strikes.
With the lives of countless innocents on the line, will the clash of their respective worlds tear them apart, or will they overcome adversity to prevail against evil?
Which brings us around to our well-matched couple. Maeve is a skilled Enforcer (she's VERY good at ferreting out information that people don't want others to find) who uses her hacking skills for good. Helio is a bounty hunter (although he seems more like a highly skilled tracker/retriever/skip tracer rather than a bounty hunter since money isn't his priority) who specializes in taking cases that are too small for the big peacekeeping groups to take.
Quite frankly, Helio and Maeve work well together. They're not only physically compatible (BOY are they!), they also both have a driving desire to help those who have been exploited in any way they can.
That said, yes, they have a few roadbumps in their relationship. Fortunately, Helio is smart enough to talk things through before jumping to any conclusions when Maeve is forced to make decisions he doesn't necessarily agree with. On Maeve's end, she's looking at embracing an entirely new culture and that can be intimidating.
I'm endlessly enjoying my time with the matches Kayog (and the PMA) produces and love getting to see familiar faces (with bonus kiddos!) dropping in for a visit. *thumbs up*
