Synopsis:
Scottie Ramone has been having second thoughts about a lot lately; her pastry chef job in a five-star restaurant, her looming extravagant wedding (future mom-in-law’s idea) and spending the rest of her life with Jonathan Rathbone. The one thing she has no doubts about are her plans to open a vintage bakery.

When Scottie receives a frantic, late night call from her grandmother all her dreams, second thoughts and a truly delicious banana chiffon cake are put on hold. Much to her fiancĂ©’s chagrin, Scottie packs a bag and heads up to Grandmother Evie’s house in Ripple Creek.

A missing grandmother, a murdered neighbor and a crush from the past are just a few of the surprises waiting for Scottie in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Will she be able to sort out the chaos? Will she make it back in time for her own wedding?

Scottie knows one thing for sure; no amount of flower bouquets or yards of silk and lace will pull her away from Ripple Creek.
Thoughts on Banana Chiffon and Bad Deeds: I started reading book 1 and about a chapter in decided I needed to hunt down the prequel because I wanted to know the circumstances behind what brought Scottie back to Ripple Creek. I'm pretty glad I did this because we get to meet Scottie's grandma and Dalton (her long-time crush) and they both show up in pretty substantial ways in book 1.

Anyway. Back to this book. Scottie's about to get married and her soon-to-be husband is...kind of entitled and pretentious. He's dismissive of Scottie's dreams, doesn't think she should bother helping her grandmother this close to their wedding, and is just generally unpleasant. No lie, Scottie pretty much dodged a bullet with the choices she ended up making.

Meanwhile in Ripple Creek, Scottie comes face to face with her long-time crush and realizes she's still crushing. She also stumbles over a dead body (pretty much literally) while searching for her missing grandmother. As you might imagine, that was a little traumatic. Just a little, though.

A body, some clues, more than a few longing glances, and a mystery that needs solving. I think I'm going to enjoy my time spent in Ripple Creek.
