Then I thought about it for a day or two and, well, it stuck with me. Enough that I started to appreciate the twist. I mean, without giving anything away, that was a good twist. One I didn't see coming, at least.
Anywho. Josephine wants to throw the perfect dinner (because she's tired of playing nice at Big Uncle's gatherings) and things take a VERY unexpected turn. On more than one level. Having someone die during dinner is never a good thing, but it will certainly be a dinner everyone talks about for years to come. Sure, they're probably not talking about it in a good way, but they're still talking.
So, Josephine puts on her sleuthing hat and starts ferreting out secrets. No lie, there are a lot of secrets. And somehow they all tangle up together until a bigger picture starts to emerge. One that complicates things while also somehow making them easier at the same time. Go figure.
Not my normal type of story, but I ended up liking the twist and the story definitely grew on me.
