Synopsis (Goodreads):
When Callie took over the Gull’s Nest Bed-and-Breakfast, she thought life would be stable and predictable. Instead, the last few months have taken her on a journey of some of her highest highs and lowest lows. Looking for some semblance of peace, Callie focuses on the things within her control. So, when a man sitting on the boardwalk outside the B and B dies from what looks like natural causes, Callie should be able to leave it alone. Except that the man’s spirit implored her to solve his murder as he passed on, and she can’t get the mystery out of her head. But as Callie searches for answers, the truth might shatter everything she’s worked so hard to build for herself.Thoughts on Friends and Amenities: We're back in Pebble Cove and Callie is pulled into another investigation when a man dies outside her B&B. As if tracking down clues for a death that looks to be natural (but which Callie is pretty sure is anything but) isn't hard enough, Owen has become distant since the ambush that ended with him injured and his partner dead.
That said, Callie trusts Owen to ask for help if he needs it, so she quietly frets and lets him go about his business. Meanwhile, she's following the scant crumbs she can find with the help of Olivia. Which leads to Callie uncovering a BIG surprise during the investigation that changes things in a whole bunch of ways.
This book nicely ties up Owen's investigation on the drug task force and brings Callie and Owen closer together overall. Pebble Cove might be practically ghost free now, but everybody got their HEA, so that's definitely nice.
