Synopsis (Goodreads):
Do I dare trust my heart to Secret Agent Gargoyle?Thoughts on Secret Agent Gargoyle: A tiny misunderstanding during their first encounter has Angie not exactly thrilled to have Tuvid assigned to her case when she comes to the PI agency for help. After all, being accused of theft by the hunky gargoyle isn't the greatest way to make a good first impression. But she deals and finds out the big gargoyle is sweeter (and sexier) than she thought.
Angie: When my specialty beer kegs turn up missing days before a big brew-off event, I hire Monsters, PI to track down my beer. Who’s assigned to my case? Tuvid Elresh, the gargoyle who wrongfully accused me of gnome-theft a few short weeks ago.
Tuvid’s seven feet of bulging gargoyle muscles with a killer—fang-filled—smile. So, when our not-one-night-stand inside a beer cooler results in a spontaneous marriage proposal—solely to save his gargoyle rep—I know I’m in deep trouble. My business plans don’t include marrying a gargoyle, but Tuvid’s impossible to resist. Will I lose my heart to a gargoyle secret agent?
Tuvid: I met Angie while I was wrapping up a local investigation involving stolen gnomes. Yeah, I was given the wrong address, and I accused her of stealing the little guys. I was determined to make amends. Plus ask her out, because she was cute. But she didn’t return my calls.
Then we’re locked inside her microbrewery’s cold storage, and who should unlock the door in the morning? Her mom and mine. It’s clear we’ve been together all night, though we didn’t do anything—well, not much. But gargoyles are old-fashioned, and my reputation will be shattered unless we get married.
I’m not a gargoyle who’ll waste an opportunity like this. I’m going to track down her beer kegs in time for the brew-off. And when the case is closed? Angie’s going to be my gargoyle bride.
On Tuvid's end, he jumped to some conclusions and made a mistake and he absolutely realized it pretty much as soon as he accused Angie. But the damage was done and it was only luck and happenstance that led to her asking for help when he was the only agent available. So he took that as a sign and set out to charm Angie out of her upset. Which he did. And then they got trapped in a walk-in overnight and suddenly they're fake engaged.
Which might not have been Tuvid's plan at the start of things, but he's willing to work with what he's given. He's also planning on convincing Angie they'd make a great couple before their fake engagement ends.
A brewery plagued with problems, an important upcoming contest, meddling family (on both sides), fake tails, steamy looks, a gargoyle who made a critical error, and a lady who might not have been thrilled with their first meeting, but who knows a good thing when she cuddles up to him. *thumbs up*
