For existing fans of the series.

Fluff and spice. That is all.

Set after the end of the Darkstar Mercenaries series.
Thoughts on The Build Up: I've been putting off reading the final DSM book because I have a REALLY hard time letting things go and I like these intense, deadly aliens and the ladies who capture their respective hearts. Admittedly, this short gives away some of the plot points in said book, so maybe don't read it until you've read that one if you're not into spoilers. I'm actually a little comforted knowing everything turns out a-okay for the group as a whole, so the spoilers were a non-issue for me. But, you know, if that's not your thing, hold off on this one until later.

Anywho. I kinda love the whole Abbey/Tarak dynamic. Not just their dynamic together, but how shocked Tarak's warriors are when they see how easily he defers to Abbey's ideas. I just... like how it doesn't bother him to give into her when others are around even though he'd never bend for anyone else.

As for Abbey, she's very aware that she sees a side of Tarak others rarely see. She loves that he's comfortable enough with her to unbend and relax and that he lets her take charge at times. She also likes when he goes into super intense mode and sends everyone around them running for the hills. Let's just say these two fit together nicely in all ways and leave it at that.

Plans for the future, some subtle maneuvering to make said plans work, a deadly male who loves his family enough to save a world for her, and a lady who adores her deadly husband more than she ever thought she could. *thumbs up*
