Synopsis (Goodreads):
He was the dream mate she never expected.Thoughts on I Married a Catman: The PMA is doing it's thing again and finding the perfect matches for people who need them most. In this case, Ophelia and Gaelec. A forward thinking human who does humanitarian outreach for struggling planets and a former convict who used his time incarcerated to better himself so he could help his tribe modernize once he was released.
When Ophelia seeks the services of the Prime Mating Agency to find her soulmate, she’s floored to learn that her perfect match is Gaelec, an intimidating, feline-looking ex-convict. Despite her better judgment, she agrees to the union only to discover that a sweet and cuddly male, with the fluffiest fur, hides behind the stern but sexy mountain of muscle that is her new husband.
She was his anchor in the tempest.
After serving twelve years in the worst prison in the galaxy, Gaelec just wants to go home to a quiet life. But the evil forces that led to his incarceration are once more set on ruining his life. Having a brand-new mate thrust on him—and a human at that—is the last thing Gaelec needs. And yet, he soon finds himself unable to resist the sweet but strong woman, with her adorable freckles and adventurous spirit who makes him want to purr again.
With so many forces conspiring to bend him to their will, can Gaelec finally find the peace and happiness he seeks with his Ophelia, or will they bring him down a dark path again?
Let's just say that Ophelia didn't expect Gaelec to be as sweet and wonderful as he was and that Gaelec was just expecting to settle back into a version of his old life. One which didn't include a mate. But they were matched and now they're together and that's a VERY good thing.
On Ophelia's end, given her former job, she's spent a chunk of her life navigating being in unfamiliar places and adapting to the customs and cultures of new people. While she's VERY good at not making waves, she's also not about to sit around and let anyone disrespect her new mate. Which doesn't necessarily endear her to the matriarch of Gaelec's tribe.
As for Gaelec, he's never had someone support him as completely as Ophelia does. Having that support gives him the ability to spread his wings (so to speak) and start to plan for a world that celebrates all people in the tribe, not just a select few. Not to mention, his incarceration gave him skills AND a deeper understanding of how he doesn't want any tribe he's part of to throw away their young males in useless endeavors. In short, Gaelec has a vision and Ophelia's support and knowledge go a long way toward making that vision a reality.
A male with a plan and a lady who is his equal can make big changes when they set their minds to it. And Gaelec and Ophelia are ready to do just that.
