Synopsis (Goodreads):
The peaceful English village of King’s Abbot is stunned. The widow Ferrars dies from an overdose of Veronal. Not twenty-four hours later, Roger Ackroyd—the man she had planned to marry—is murdered. It is a baffling case involving blackmail and death that taxes Hercule Poirot’s “little grey cells” before he reaches one of the most startling conclusions of his career.
Thoughts on The Murder of Roger Ackroyd: Oh, man. This was a good one. This is technically a re-read, but I honestly didn't remember who did the deed (and I probably wouldn't have believed myself if I had remembered). So it's ALMOST like I was reading it again for the first time.

So. With his good friend Hastings currently in Argentina, Poirot finds himself going it alone in his investigation. Well, kind of alone. He's found a Hastings stand-in (of sorts) in the doctor that lives next door to him and soon the two are embroiled in a little murder investigation.

Poirot, being himself, is mysteriously cryptic as he discovers clues and beings to put together the big picture. Sheppard (the doctor) isn't quite as quick as Poirot (but then, WHO IS?) and he doesn't fall in love with every lovely woman who crosses his path. You know, like Hastings does.

Anywho. There's a death. Then there's a murder. The two might be connected. There are plenty of suspects and more than a few clues that need to be assembled JUST SO before everything comes to a head. Which is to say Poirot gathers his suspects and reveals who did it and it's a little shocking. But it all makes sense once he lays it out. And that's what I'm here for!
