I'm not proud of this (or of the fact I've seen that movie more than once because I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I thought I would), but it does make for entertaining reading.
When Olivia Kendrick and her friends stumble on a dead body at a state park, it’s clear supernatural forces were to blame. At the same time, shady people are showing up in Nightmare, and every one of them had a reason to kill.
As rumors swirl about something powerful hidden in Nightmare, another murder victim puts the staff of Nightmare Sanctuary Haunted House on high alert. Is there a serial killer on the loose, or are there two killers to catch?
Meanwhile, Olivia and her friends have an encouraging new lead about the whereabouts of Baxter Shackleford, the haunted house’s missing owner. It will take the combined abilities of them all to get the answers they need…
Anywho. GHOULS! Lots of ghouls. On the plus side, ghouls are apparently pretty easy to kill. On the downside, they're kind of gross. On the other plus side, their appearance might be good news in the hunt for Damien's father. So, you know, there's that. But also, GHOULS. Yuck.
So. Olivia and crew stumble over a dead body. This is not uncommon, at this point. What is uncommon is that the body isn't just dead, it's dead-dead. Like, twice dead. Which means the Nightmare police crew are going to have a hard time pinpointing who did it since they're unaware of the supernatural world surrounding them.
While Olivia and her Sanctuary friends work on keeping themselves and others around Nightmare safe, they're also following clues as to where Baxter might be. The hints keep piling up, but they're usually just cryptic enough that Olivia and the others have a hard time deciphering them. They don't let this stop them, mind you, but this journey to finding Baxter is definitely not a straight line. There are lots of curves and dips (and maybe some chances for hot kisses - I'm looking at you, Olivia and Damien) along the way.
I've devoured this series in no time flat and I'm VERY intrigued by what's in store for Olivia, Damien, and the Sanctuary family in the future!
