Synopsis (Goodreads):
In a world beset by magic waves, Kate Daniels works as a mercenary. She is tired, hungry, and there is foul-smelling blood on her boots. All she wants to do is to go home, but when Mercenary Guild offers her a job she can't refuse, she finds herself protecting a man against Russian wizards.

(In anthology Dark and Stormy Knights.)
Thoughts on A Questionable Client: I'm rereading the Kate Daniels series and realized I had the anthology this short story was in. SO... I got to dive into Kate's first encounter with Saiman RIGHT after reading Magic Bites. Which is awesome because... well, it all ties together. Or something.

Anyway. Kate's on bodyguard duty. Saiman is NOT the easiest client and there's a serious ick factor with his spontaneous shapeshifting. The job might not go *smoothly* by Kate's definition, but Saiman doesn't end up dead at the end of the evening, so that's a plus.

I'm really enjoying going back to the beginning (in more ways than one with this short story since this is Kate before she got thrown into the crazy with Curran and his peeps) and seeing the badass merc we've come to know and love.

On with the reread.
