Synopsis (Goodreads):
Plagued by a war between magic and technology, Atlanta has never been so deadly. Good thing Kate Daniels is on the job.

Kate Daniels may have quit the Order of Merciful Aid, but she’s still knee-deep in paranormal problems. Or she would be if she could get someone to hire her. Starting her own business has been more challenging than she thought it would be—now that the Order is disparaging her good name, and many potential clients are afraid of getting on the bad side of the Beast Lord, who just happens to be Kate’s mate.

So when Atlanta’s premier Master of the Dead calls to ask for help with a vampire on the loose, Kate leaps at the chance of some paying work. Turns out this is not an isolated incident, and Kate needs to get to the bottom of it—fast, or the city and everyone dear to her might pay the ultimate price . . .
Thoughts on Magic Slays: Kate and Curran might have finally taken the plunge and admitted their love for one another, but it's not all smooth sailing between the hard-headed ex-mercenary and her VERY alpha Beast Lord.

Curran can't help but issue orders and Kate has the knee jerk reaction to do the exact opposite of what she's told. Okay, that last part might not be entirely true. Kate does what she feels is right, regardless of how it puts her in danger. And that drives Curran crazy. Because seeing his lady love in danger puts him in protective beast mode.

Theirs is a complicated relationship.

Beside the whole Kate/Curran thing, there's something bad on the horizon and Kate's smack-dab in the middle of it. As usual. Andrea makes her return after the events in book 4 and she's in a bad place. Kate is saddled with a couple of shapeshifter bodyguards and Julie is being a typical teenager. You know, typical for someone who has Kate for an aunt.

I honestly love seeing Kate and Curran as they try to settle into a very public relationship. I adore watching her try to balance her personal life with her duties as the female alpha of the Pack. I just *clutches everyone close*... yeah. That.

I've almost finished this reread and I'm both sad and excited. Sad because IT'S ALMOST OVER and excited because OMG! NEW TO ME BOOKS COMING SOON!
