Synopsis (Goodreads):
Jayne Frost is a lot of things. Winter elf, Jack Frost's daughter, Santa Claus's niece, heir to the Winter Throne and now...private investigator. Sort of.

When Lark Bramble, an old frenemy, shows up in Nocturne Falls, Jayne finds herself reliving the painful past and trying to make responsible decisions that won’t mess up her future. But being an adult proves harder than she thought.

Finally at peace with where things stand between her and Lark, Jayne thinks everything’s cool until a chilling event at the Black and Orange Ball shatters that peace and puts Jayne at odds with the powers that be. She knows she’s on thin ice, but she’s determined to crack the caper.

Can Jayne find a way to right the wrongs she might have caused or will she forever bear the guilt of allowing herself to be snowed again?
Thoughts on Miss Frost Cracks a Caper: Nocturne Falls is THE PLACE to be for holiday fun (for both Halloween and Christmas, as it turns out) and danger and other larcenous shenanigans. Which is kind of funny because all that larceny never amounts to anything once Jayne gets involved. You'd think the baddies would learn, but they don't. They just keep showing up and doing bad things within Jayne's sphere of influence.

Fools.

This time around, a little case of thievery gets the royal treatment. To be fair, it's more than a little case and Jayne is DEFINITELY going to get involved since some of the thieved jewels are from the Winter Court. But even if they weren't, Jayne's conscience wouldn't let her leave this alone since she feels partly responsible for what happened.

On the romance front, the will-she, won't-she between her two beaus gets resolved. Or...something. Let's just say Jayne looks like she's going to be a one-romantic-partner elf after this book. While things definitely moved quickly (after really not moving at all for the first 3 books) and took a turn Jayne really wasn't expecting, I like where it went.

A blast from the past, a little danger, donuts, donuts, donuts, and whole lot of ice. Jayne's world is never boring!
