Synopsis (Goodreads):
Livvy Savoie is a people person. Not only does she have the magical gift of persuasion, but her natural charisma charms everyone she meets. She hasn’t met a person she didn’t like. Until her annoyingly brilliant competitor walks through the door. No matter how hard she denies it, loathing isn’t the only emotion she feels for him.Thoughts on Always Practice Safe Hex: The witch and the grim. I can't deny that I liked these two VERY MUCH. They go from an antagonistic relationship (which stemmed more from the attraction they both felt, but refused to acknowledge than any actual dislike on either of their parts) to a very profitable (and sexy) collaboration.
Grim reaper Gareth Blackwater is rarely, if ever, moved beyond his broody, stoic state. But the witch he’s partnered with in the public relations contest is destroying his peace of mind. He’s convinced that the flesh-melting attraction he feels for her is merely her witchy magic at work.
But forced proximity proves there is more than magic sparking between them. Livvy learns this enigmatic grim’s abilities are beyond any supernatural she has ever known. And when Livvy becomes the obsessive target of a dangerous warlock, Gareth proves just how powerful he truly is. Because no one is going to hurt his Lavinia.
But before they get to that part, Gareth and Livvy have a few issues they have to iron out. To start with, Livvy doesn't know much about what Gareth can do. Grims are so wildly secretive about their abilities Livvy doesn't know Gareth can telepath until he accidentally sends her a sexy snippet of his thoughts. On the plus side, once Livvy knows Gareth is into her and his stony façade hides a lot, she begins to see him in a different light. Which helps her deal with that aforementioned attraction.
On Gareth's end, he's most definitely into Livvy. His rough upbringing and the depth of his power have him keeping his distance, but he likes the charming witch and he finds himself thinking about her far more than he's comfortable with. And when things start lining up they move forward with a bang.
A dangerous man, a worthy cause, a whole lot of hidden power, a family who has Livvy's back, a lot of steam, plenty of sparks, and a grim who's found the lady who completes him. GOOD STUFF!
