Synopsis (Goodreads):
When Charlotte Sawyer is unable to contact her stepsister, Jocelyn, to tell her that one of her closest friends was found dead, she discovers that Jocelyn has vanished.

Beautiful, brilliant, and reckless, Jocelyn has gone off the grid before, but never like this. In a desperate effort to find her, Charlotte joins forces with Max Cutler, a struggling PI who recently moved to Seattle after his previous career as a criminal profiler went down in flames—literally. Burned out, divorced and almost broke, Max needs the job.

After surviving a near-fatal attack, Charlotte and Max turn to Jocelyn’s closest friends—women in a Seattle-based online investment club—for answers. But what they find is chilling...

When her uneasy alliance with Max turns into a full-blown affair, Charlotte has no choice but to trust him with her life. For the shadows of Jocelyn’s past are threatening to consume her—and anyone else who gets in their way...
Thoughts on When All the Girls Have Gone: Diving into a new JAK series and we have a cult, the children who survived it (literally, since the leader attempted to kill them via a locked burning barn), and a whole lot of questions. And that's only the backstory.

But before we get to all that, we have Max and Charlotte. He's one of the now-grown survivors of the cult and he's...well, Max has his reasons for believing more than a few outlandish theories. Currently, he's burned out, skating on the edge, and mighty intrigued by Charlotte. On her end, Charlotte is worried about her sister. When her path crosses with Max's, the two start to suspect that maybe Charlotte's sister's disappearance and the case Max is investigating are intertwined.

As you might have guessed THINGS HAPPEN and soon the two are hot on the trail of answers. Throw in a seemingly wild conspiracy theory regarding the cult leader from Max's past and there's a glorious lot going on here.

New beginnings, a past that won't stay dead, a dangerous investigation, and two people who figure things out and generate some HEAT. NICE!
