Gideon is powerful and his beast drives him when it comes to certain things. Like treasure. And both the beast and Gideon see Rose as a treasure to be adored.

As for Rose, well, she's a little heartsore. No, she's a lot heartsore. She'd thought she'd found her perfect match and then he walked away from her. Having a powerful, mysterious immortal looking at her like he could just eat her up (possibly literally!) is both something she desperately needs and something she's desperately terrified of. Because if her perfect match shattered on her, what's a relationship that's not perfect going to do?

Gideon, being a wily immortal, isn't about to walk away since both his man-side and his beast-side are in accord abut Rose being his mate. He just has to figure out how to convince her of that.
