Synopsis (Goodreads):
She loved the accidental marriage trope in rom coms. In real life? Not so much…Thoughts on Monster Mistake: We're back in Sanity Falls and BOY is it a fun place. You know, if you look past the kidnapping and stalking and stuff. Which sounds like I'm implying it's NOT fun, but THESE MONSTERS. They know how to show a lady a good time. And also throw people into walls. And feral hog dimensions. Not that the last one happened, BUT IT COULD.
All Justine Willet wanted was a night of fun to help her forget about her cheating scumbag of an ex-boyfriend.
In retrospect, attending the Monster Match probably wasn’t a good idea. Neither was the impromptu road trip to Vegas.
But while there, drinks were consumed. Accidents happened. MONSTER mistakes were made.
Which is how she ended up with the mother of all hangovers…and married to her giant orc co-worker.
Khill was grumpy. Antisocial. Unfairly hot. And once upon a time, he friend zoned her in a big way.
So, why is he suddenly so reluctant to annul their drunken marriage?
Justine has no idea. But she’s starting to wonder if walking away from Khill would be an even bigger mistake than their accidental wedding…
Anywho. Justine and Khill are the grumpiest coworkers who ever coworked. They both like their job (because DOGGOS! So many PUPPERS!), but they could do with a little less peopling. In fact, I kind of think Justine might be the only people-person Khill likes. And vice versa. Which makes them ideal as coworkers, really.
In fact, the only downside to them is that Justine asked Khill out when he was just getting used to being on Earth and he wasn't ready for anything at that point. So she shoved down her attraction and they did the friend thing. But just because the timing was off, doesn't mean Khill didn't like Justine. In fact, he likes her A LOT. It was just that he couldn't do more than acclimate himself to Earth at the time and a relationship was not on the table at that point.
Now, though? OH, IT'S ON THE TABLE. AND THE BED. AND PROBABLY AGAINST THE WALL. In other words, he's 100% ready. Getting married in Vegas wasn't ideal, but he's committed. That said, as much as he'd love to stay married, he's not about to force Justine into anything she doesn't want. So if she thinks it's best to get an annulment, he'll go along with it. (Until, that is, a whip smart divorce lawyer drops a truthbomb on Justine and gets her seeing what's right in front of her!)
A pathetic ex, a disastrous monster match, a whirlwind trip to Vegas, the hangover to end all hangovers, a little danger (in part because of a hangry Justine), an orc who falls and falls hard, and a lady who knows a good male when she meets him (you know, after her pathetic ex and her disastrous monster match date). GOOD STUFF ALL AROUND!
