Synopsis (Goodreads):
I had everything I ever wanted.
I was brilliant, successful, esteemed.
Alone.
But I didn’t mind. I liked being alone.

Until they stole me.

And I wake up, captive, pregnant with an alien baby—and still a virgin.

For a race of freaks nearing extinction, there seems to be far, far too many of them.

Everywhere I turn, one of the morts or their human mates wants to comfort me, make me feel welcome and safe. But I don’t want to feel welcome or safe. I want the life they stole from me.

None of them pay any heed to my angry tirades, least of all the father of the child I carry. There’s no doubt he wants the baby, but that isn’t all he wants.

In fact, I’m beginning to think if some of the morts had their way I’d never be alone again.
Thoughts on The Uncertain Scientist: Onto the next pairing between the morts and the ladies they accidentally acquired. And by "accidentally", I mean they flat out stole them from the transport ship when it was passing by their planet. Except...as it turns out, there's more to this story than just that. Because, you know, their planet was formerly known as Earth and that kinda throws everything I thought I knew into disarray. IN THE BEST WAY!

But let's talk about Grace and her predicament. She wakes up pregnant and a teeeeeeny bit angry about it. The mort whose baby she's carrying happens to already be bonded to another mort and the two of them aren't really out of the closet about their relationship. Which causes some issues when Grace starts hormonally responding to Sayer because of her little mortling.

But...but but but Sayer and Jareth and Grace figure things out. Namely, Sayer and Jareth realize adding Grace to their coupledom doesn't lessen their own bond in the slightest. Caring for her and their forthcoming child really only makes things better and they form a pretty solid triad once they get over the initial speed bumps.

Well, wait. They form a solid triad after the initial speed bumps and Grace's desire to make things right once a few secrets are spilled and Sayer and Jareth realizing they're stronger with her and...yeah, there's a little they have to work through before it all comes together.

Hadrian's up next and I'm excited!
