Synopsis (Goodreads):
Everyone found their mate.
Except me.
I’m destined to die alone.

Being jealous of my brothers and their happiness is something I’m not proud of. But this simmering anger won’t cool. I want to move past my own feelings and focus on winning the war against the Kevins.

But then she calls for help.
Stella.

She’s fierce and protective over her son, but she’s no match against a pack of sabrevipes—or the Kevins here to destroy us.

Time is of the essence, and she needs me.
It means running from the fight my people are in the midst of and setting off on a reckless mission with terrible odds.

I’m determined, though.
I’ll protect my runaway alien at all costs.

Stella may hate every creature on Mortuus, including us morts, but it won’t stop me from keeping her and her son safe.

If she hates me for that, so be it.
I’d rather have her annoyed company than spend another second alone.

Fate has brought me to them, as though delivering me right to my mate.

All I have to do is convince her she’s forever mine.
Thoughts on The Runaway Alien: There's been danger sitting on the horizon for the morts and their human lady friends and I've been ITCHING to see how things worked out. I mean, the "Kevins" are hitting the atmosphere to cause some havoc, the morts are battening down the hatches and trying to come up with a way to hold them off, and one of the human women from the prison took her young son and made a break for it in an attempt to keep him safe.

As it turns out, Mortuus is a dangerous planet with a lot of dangerous critters and it isn't long before Stella and Henry have to turn to the morts for help. Considering one of the reasons she ran was to escape the morts (for the record, she has a complicated history with the people in charge and doesn't trust easily, so her running is definitely more about her than anything the morts as a group did), she's a little punchy when Galen busts in to save the day.

No worries, though, because those morts are nothing if not protective and Galen's willingness to put Stella and her son first (even if it means putting himself in danger) soon wins her over to his side.

A lot of action, more than a little danger, a protective mort, a desperate mother, and a satisfying conclusion. The morts fight hard and love harder and Galen has a ready-made family to show for it once the dust settles. GOOD STUFF.
