Synopsis (Goodreads):
Our world is dangerous and destroyed by our ancestors.
We’re a bunch of hulking, broody mortarekkers left on this wretched planet, and it’d be enough to frighten any alien female upon waking to see our ugly nogs.

But my mate isn’t frightened.
The moment she wakes, I claim her.
How could I not when she’s the bravest and most beautiful female to ever walk this earth?

Surprisingly, she’s excited for this new adventure. Eager to be my side. A heroine like in all the stories she so fervently retells.

We could even have the happily ever after she speaks of.
If only an army of evil, violent, cruel Kevins weren’t headed our way.

And I’m the one everyone is relying on to save them.

Each solar flies by quicker than the last. It’s a race to build a powerful weapon to blow them out of the sky and woo the prettiest female at the same time.

I’ve got this.
I’m a mort of many talents.
I’m one determined hero.

These Kevins think they’ll take away our happy ending?
I rekking think not.
Thoughts on The Determined Hero: It's Oz's turn to claim his special lady friend and I liiiikkkkke how Quinn was all in pretty much from the beginning. It probably helped that she was given a little more time to acclimate to her new situation than the others and that Oz's pretty much constant presence when she was in her coma practically had him imprinting on her before she ever woke up. Regardless, I liked it. I liked that she gave herself time to think and work through what was going on and when she did join the group she was ready for whatever was thrown at them.

Mostly, at least. She got a few linguistic things wrong (which was kinda funny), but she knew what she was getting into for the most part and that's what matters.

On Oz's side, he's the mechanical whiz who can create anything needed given enough time and the right parts. From death rays to sexy toys, he's the guy who's always tinkering and building. With the bad guys heading their way and the lives of everyone on the planet at stake, Oz is under a VERY tight deadline to figure out how to create a weapon that will keep his family, friends, and new mate safe. To say he pushes himself to the extreme to get it done would be an understatement.

I'm digging these Morts and the hardscrabble existence they've carved out for themselves. They were in a bad way until they stole a bunch of women from a passing ship and yet they've never failed to push on to try to make things better. The introduction of the women gave them hope and I've LOVED watching them fall one by one. The good doc is up next and yesssssss. He's going to be in a for a ride with his lady.
