Synopsis (Goodreads):
He’ll do anything to find his mate!

Calix has been looking for his mate for years. There’s someone fated just for him, and no one else will do. But one look at Emma has Cal overwhelmed with protectiveness. He knows Emma is not the one, but that doesn’t stop him from stealing her and claiming her as his own.

Emma stinks.

Stinking is ideal for avoiding attention. But when it comes to the hot-as-sin alien mercenary who just rescued her from slavery, that’s the last thing she wants. Emma wants her muscle-bound hero, lock, stock, and barrel. Instead, he dumps her in the spare room to “keep her safe.” What a bummer!

But the more time they spend with each other, the more they realize they are perfect together. Will Calix give up his hunt for a mate to claim the female he loves? Or will Emma leave him in a misguided attempt to help him find his one true mate?
Thoughts on A Claim for Calix: Cal is up and he's...well, let's just say that while he's thrilled that his friends and brothers at arms have found their mates, he's also lonely. He believes his special someone is out there and he's ready to find her. When he's on a job and has a human lady thrust into his arms, his nose knows she's not the one, but his heart (among other things) is intrigued. So he spirits her away to the Defiant and then has to undo the "training" the Dominion has so thoughtfully given her.

On Emma's end, she's learned to do what needs to be done to survive. Playing nice with Calix isn't a hardship because he's clean, kind, and oddly protective of her seeing as how he's just met her. So when he whisks her away to his ship, she's not unhappy about it. In fact, the only bad thing about being person-napped by a handsome mercenary is wondering when he'll grow tired of her odd smell and send her on her way. To be blunt, Emma's experiences with aliens not liking her smell has left a mark on her and she's waiting for the other shoe to drop with Cal.

Except...Cal likes her. A lot. His nose might be telling him she's not his mate, but her sweetness and resigned bravery calls to him. While he finds a workaround that makes her scent less odd when they're getting frisky, that also comes with its own set of problems.

A little danger, some frisky couples, a mercenary who will do what it takes to keep his special someone, and a lady who has to undo some mental conditioning before she's ready for her man. *thumbs up*
