Synopsis (Goodreads):
Lymstock is a town with more than its share of scandalous secrets—a town where even a sudden outbreak of anonymous hate mail causes only a minor stir.

But all that changes when one of the recipients, Mrs. Symmington, commits suicide. Her final note says “I can’t go on,” but Miss Marple questions the coroner’s verdict of suicide. Soon nobody is sure of anyone—as secrets stop being shameful and start becoming deadly.
Thoughts on The Moving Finger: Miss Marple is doing her thing again and this time it's in a small town near St. Mary Mead. Which means she's slightly out of her element, but not REALLY since this is Miss Marple we're talking about.

Two things with this book. #1: I actually remember reading it previously, but didn't remember who did the deed until nearly the end of the book (it's a thing with me, don't ask). #2: Miss Marple doesn't make an appearance until a good way into the book. Which works somehow because recuperating pilot Jerry Burton (along with his sister) are in town (for his rehabilitation) picking up clues.

That said, it isn't until Miss Marple is brought in to help Jerry see that he has all the answers that things come to a head. In her gentle, almost flighty way, Miss Marple assembles what's been discovered and builds the picture of what led to the crime and why it was committed. *thumbs up*
