Synopsis (Goodreads):
Duty should mean everything to the Fourth Commander of the Echelon angels. It did before he met her. Now, the only demon he wants to slay is the one that haunts the enchanting mortal huntress, and the temptation to hunt him in Hell, a realm that might kill him, is becoming impossible to resist.

Held captive by a dragon shifter in Hell, Emelia survived a torment that changed her in ways she hates. She wants her strength back. Her life back. To do that, she needs closure. To get that, she might have to trust not only a man again, but an immortal.

But when the price of vengeance is the soul of the angel bringing her back to life, will Emelia be willing to pay it?
Thoughts on Avenged by an Angel: We're backtracking a bit to events that happened in earlier books and we get to see them from Emelia's perspective. Emelia, who survived being gifted to a cruel dragon as a war prize and who is trying very hard to get past that. Given that she was imprisoned and nearly mentally broken by the dragon, she's doing pretty darn well. But she's still not where she wants to be and she's dealing with panic attacks and some serious PTSD.

That said, while she might want the dragon taken care of in a permanent way, she's not willing to let anyone (namely Wolf, the intense Fourth Commander who looks at her like she means something to him) risk themselves to do it. Wolf, meanwhile, wants nothing more than to avenge Emelia. He hates that she's still suffering from what was done to her and is willing to risk anything and everything to give her peace.

Except doing that puts him at risk and...yeah, these two have a slightly complicated budding relationship. Throw in those sketchy practices that Archangel engages in (so many morally reprehensible things!) and Emelia starting to realize that maybe the organization isn't as on the up and up as they'd been led to believe and there's a lot going on here.

A little danger, more than a few trips to hell, fallen angels (both those who embrace their fallen side and those who retain their goodness), and a whole lot of smolder. Not literally on that last one. No one catches on fire. There's just a lot of looks full of intense longing. Which I am here for!
