Synopsis (Goodreads):
I’m a librarian who specializes in intergalactic antiquity, hired to restore the ancient tablets and print books of the Sandstone legacy. Now I’m on location in the wildlands of a remote planet called Tarvos. And my boss, the local satanic-looking rancher financing this new library, hates my guts. It irritates him that a human was chosen by the antiquities council to run this Hyrrokin project.

It doesn’t help matters that I saw him naked that one time…

And then there’s a terrifying earthquake in the cave where the tablets are sourced and we’re stuck together, trying to find a way out.

I end up tending to his wounds.

And this is when I learn that maybe my boss doesn’t hate me as much as I thought.
Thoughts on His Human Librarian: We're back on Tarvos and this time we have Sten Sandstone and the human librarian he REALLY doesn't want to be in charge of cataloging the collection found on his property. In fact, he's kind of rude to Taylor at first and it's only once they get trapped in the cave housing the collection that he starts to unbend. Then all his locked down feelings come spilling out and soon the two are connecting over more than books.

Just to be clear, I'm not a huge fan of amnesia when used as a plot device like this. Sten is about to tell Taylor how he feels and that they should make things official when he gets knocked on the head and the guy can't remember her once he regains consciousness. He goes back to being rude and rejects her pretty publicly. BUT THEN, after some time has passed, Taylor has left the planet and now has to return to tell Sten he's going to be a papa and suddenly he remembers everything. None of the scenario really hit me emotionally. Sten's amnesia was used to keep them apart, but everything magically righted itself once they crossed paths again. I don't know. Maybe I don't feel like they had to work for anything. There was some tepid dislike, they worked that out, they got together, they separated thanks to the conk on the head, and then things were okay after some time had passed.

These books tend to go hard on over the top behavior and I pretty much expect that when I pick one up. This one? I don't know. It didn't quite work for me.
