Synopsis (Goodreads):
The brooding Fire Lord of Ashmoor Manor receives an adorable, curvy human as his ward!

I’m getting married today and I’m so freaking depressed.

My bridal gown is exquisite. The ring is enormous. But my groom is evil personified and I’m being forced into this doomed marriage. I’m seconds from breaking into a full-on ugly cry.

And right then, as if by magic, the church doors burst open.

Women scream and children scramble as a huge satanic-looking alien stomps down the aisle, flicking his tail, flashing flames and wreaking chaos in his wake. He’s looking right at me.

“Charlotte Cruz?” the devil questions.

I give a jerky nod, shocked into silence.

The monster grunts in response, sweeps me off my feet and carries me away from the altar.
Thoughts on His Human Ward: Grumpy Thayne ends up with a human woman as his ward and, well, the guy never stood a chance, did he? These big, bad Hyrrokin men fall hard and fast for the human women who cross their path. To be fair, the human ladies tend to fall just as hard and fast for their alien men.

That said, Thayne had a bit of baggage he needed to deal with before he could commit himself to Charlotte. Namely, the blame he placed on himself for the actions of his former bound. The guy had a lot of guilt and grieving he needed to get a handle on and it wasn't until Charlotte took the reins and started making changes that he made any headway on it.

As for Charlotte, she's dealing with her new circumstances as best she can. She's making friends and carving out a place for herself and trying to learn the customs of the people who've given her this new home. She's a little conflicted about having the hots for her guardian, but she also knows she's a grown woman and is happy in this new place with these new people.

A run-in with a jealous ex, a little fire-hooch, a few steamy kisses, forgiveness, grief, and a friend in high places. *thumbs up*
