Synopsis (Goodreads):
Some people have everything figured out—Andrea Nash is not one of those people.

After being kicked out of the Order of the Knights of Merciful Aid, Andrea’s whole existence is in shambles. All she can do is to try to put herself back together, something made easier by working for Cutting Edge, a small investigative firm owned by her best friend Kate Daniels.

When several shapeshifters working for Raphael Medrano—the male alpha of the Clan Bouda and Andrea’s former lover—die unexpectedly at a dig site, Andrea is assigned to investigate…and must work with Raphael. As Andrea’s search for the killer leads her into the secret underbelly of supernatural Atlanta, she knows that dealing with her feelings for Raphael might have to take a back seat to saving the world…
Thoughts on Gunmetal Magic: OH, ANDREA! I had forgotten A LOT about this book, so the reread was pretty darn awesome because OMG! THE CRAZY! THE CRAZY! And Roman. I'd totally forgotten how fun he is. There's something about a man who can call upon the powers of darkness and do CRAZY ASS SHIT when needed that makes me happy.

So. Andrea. She's one messed up bouda. Her issues have issues. Given her childhood, this is totally understandable. And horribly sad. I wanted to drop kick Raphael's head for being so irrational about her choices, but I also saw his side of it. Shapeshifter politics and family ties are complex and dangerous and sometimes hard to unravel.

Until everything falls into place and things turn rosy.

Purple shag carpet, people. It's the cure for many, many things, apparently.

I loved seeing the various characters we've come to know pop in and out of Andrea's investigation. I loved seeing Andrea take a stand (a better one, in my opinion, than the one she took before) and embrace her animal side. I like the crazy pack politics and the berserker rages and all the blood and guts.

Basically, I have SO MUCH LOVE FOR THIS SERIES. In all ways. And some extra love for Roman. Who totally deserves a book of his own.

  1. After disliking the first book in this series I have finally started in on the rest. I am going to go in order. People seem to really love it.

    1. It's enjoyable in a crazy sort of way. I have two books in the series to go until I'm caught up with what's published. I'm excited about that!
