Synopsis (Goodreads):
When a bookworm on borrowed time meets a younger, free-spirited chicken farmer, sparks and feathers fly…

Harrison Phillip Fletcher III isn’t supposed to be here. Not in Burlington, Vermont, not running Vino & Veritas, a quaint inclusive bookstore and wine bar, and definitely not still alive at forty-two. Also not supposed to be here? An unexpected delivery of chickens.

Finn Barnes knows chickens. The burly organic farmer knows all about rare breed poultry, but dealing with a hot, older bookseller is an entirely different matter. City slicker types like Harrison never end up staying in Vermont for the long-term.

They should steer clear of each other. But the flare of attraction is mutual. And somehow, amid book discussions and farm tours, they discover plenty in common. Now they’re stealing kisses in Finn’s barn, sneaking out like teens, and burning up the sheets.

What starts as a fling brings very real feelings for two lonely souls, but a future together seems as unlikely as chickens in a bookstore. Feathers may be flying, but learning to trust takes time neither may have. Can they take a leap of faith together before it’s too late?
Thoughts on Featherbed: Serious, kind of uptight Harrison is new-ish to Burlington and he's working hard at getting his new bookstore/wine bar up and running. Which means he's very focused and doesn't have time for a relationship. Or so he thinks. When some misdelivered chickens puts him in Finn's orbit...well, focused Harrison suddenly has a certain farmer on his mind.

On Finn's end, he's been burned before by someone from out of town and he's wary. Not wary enough to stay away from Harrison altogether, but he's careful with his heart and he fully expects the demands on his time as a farmer to be too much for Harrison and for the other man to quietly walk away.

The thing is, Harrison has his own demands on his time. Getting the new bookstore ready to open (and then running it once it is open) doesn't leave him much time either. Somehow, these two make things work and they find time to be together because it's important to them. That said, Harrison's stance on his health/medical issues puts strain on their budding relationship because Harrison can't fully commit with those issues on his mind and Finn VERY MUCH needs that commitment. Even if he doesn't realize it.

Chickens, books, family, long nights, steamy moments, and a whole lot of soul-searching to get these two where they need to be. I like what I'm seeing of V&V and can't wait to see how this charming bookstore brings others together.
