Synopsis (Goodreads):
Crulden the Ruiner is the most dangerous gladiator in the galaxy.Thoughts on Worse Guy: Another clone of Crulden has surfaced and he's stuck in a tough place. By that, I mean he's been caged and cuffed because he's too unpredictable and dangerous to be let loosed among the humans (and other refugees) on Risda. He's not a prisoner or a slave destined for the gladiator pits or anything, but until he gets a handle on his temper and his desire to lash out (and maim) anyone who gets too close to him, the higher ups can't risk letting him run free among the humans.
I’m his clone - equally ugly, equally dangerous, and just as feared. I’m also being held captive, since no one trusts a creature like me to be let loose.
A curvy, determined human named Bee doesn’t think I’m a creature, though. In fact, she thinks I just need a guide. She’s got half the males on this planet eating out of her hand, and she’s confident she can do the same with me.
The managing little female has no idea what she’s in for. I’m not some fool to be led around by my tail. But…the champion in me loves a challenge.
A champion also wants to win a prize. So I tell Bee I’ll go along with her plans if she kisses me…right on my tusk-filled mouth.
I never expected her to say yes…
Which is where Bee comes in. She wants a job and somehow they thought she'd be a good match to try for Crulden's rehabilitation. (FYI, much like the other Crulden clone we've met, this Crulden clone ends up choosing a new name for himself and will henceforth be known as Victor. Just so there's no confusion.) Bee's smart and good at managing people to get what she wants. It turns out, Victor's also smart and he sees right through Bee and her sugar-sweet smiles and batting lashes.
Even better, he loves watching the little human work her magic on everyone around her while they're utterly clueless to what she's doing.
