Synopsis (Goodreads):
Despite the shelter her adoptive parents have provided her entire life, Nina's psychic abilities have always hung over her like a shadow. The very powers that should give her strength have driven her to isolate herself. But lately, her craving for companionship — a mate — has become stronger than her fear. One foolish decision puts her life at great risk. And also provides a wondrous discovery...

Aduun, Vortok, and Balir have existed in a state of constant rage and ravenous hunger for centuries, locked away in the beastly forms that were forced upon them. Their only thoughts were of revenge on their Creator — until a mysterious female falls into their underground prison, restoring their heartstones and their sanity. They know nothing about her, yet she may be their only chance at reclaiming their freedom.

Unable to deny their intense attraction, they set out together to escape their Creator’s trap and rescue their lost people. Can they keep Nina safe and persevere in a world designed to destroy them?
Thoughts on Unleashed: The deeper we get to dive into the Valos world, the more I like it. This time around, we're introduced to a trio of heretofore unseen Valos. Which isn't to say they're a new breed, exactly, because, well, they're not. Exactly. They're a new set of victims of the Creators and they've spent the last thousand years trapped in a hellpit of epic proportions.

And then they get out and find that there's one last test waiting for them before they're REALLY free.

Or, you know, several tests. All of them designed to break the men and the human who'd unwittingly freed them.

Those Creators kinda sucked, didn't they?

Anywho. Their trials are complicated even more by the fact that Aduun, Vortok, and Balir aren't one of the tribes who's into sharing. Yet it's a single human female who bloods all of them and those guys have A LOT of figuring out to do before they reach a point where they're happy with their new circumstances.

As for Nina, she's a new breed of psychic. Born to one of the experimented-upon human survivors, she's dealt with her abilities by hiding herself away in the stone city. Which is NOT a great coping mechanism. But when the chips are down, she figures things out, so I guess it worked for her.

Three beastly Valos, one powerful human. I'm REALLY liking the varied men and women we've been meeting on this world.
