Synopsis (Goodreads):
S’bren doesn’t realize what a mess he’s stepping in when he steals me away. He just wants to resonate. Sweet, right? But his methods are all wrong and resonance doesn’t look as if it's happening anytime soon for either of us.

So I’m going to use this time away from the camp as an opportunity. We’re going to go exploring and not return to the beach camp until I'm good and ready. It's one part punishment for him - being my guide - and one part adventure for me. We'll have fun, swing from some vines in the fruit cave, and then return to Icehome when we're good and ready.

What's not part of the plan? Falling in love. Matters of the heart are tricky when the khui gets the final say...and mine is totally silent.
Thoughts on Penny's Protector: Okay. Okay, guys. Okay. I have THE BIGGEST soft spot for characters who see themselves as not too bright or more muscle instead of brain, but who are really sweet and kind-hearted and otherwise awesome. S'bren is almost painfully awkward around most of the women (and especially Penny) and that makes him initially come across EXACTLY like this.

But he's far from stupid, despite what he thinks about himself.

He might go about things the wrong way and he might fumble for how to express himself, but he's an utter sweetheart once Penny starts to SEE him. I'm *heart eyes*-ing so hard right now.

Frankly, both Penny and S'bren have personal hang-ups they have to come to terms with. Penny worries she's always going to be the easy conquest/good time girl and not worth anybody sticking around for beyond that. S'bren believes he's not the quickest thinker and he generally defers to his brother's ideas without considering all the potential consequences (which puts him in some hot water with both Penny and the rest of the tribe, when all is said and done).

But once they start talking and Penny sees the depth of S'bren's devotion to her despite their lack of resonance and S'bren sees how fragile Penny's sense of self-worth is, THINGS HAPPEN. Glorious, naked things.

We got an adventure across the icy tundra. We got to see a few familiar faces (I kinda love Elly and Bek, so YAY!). We got romancing both in the furs and out of them. We got sexy times and a touch of danger. GOOD STUFF!
